2015 Grand Ciel Syrah

Syrah

Offering appealing varietal aromas of violet with bright fresh plum and fig, the 2015 Grand Ciel Syrah unlocks to reveal
charcuterie, scorched earth and this wine’s trademark whiff of citrus. Surprisingly dense, concentrated and powerful in the mouth, seamless and impressively focused, this vintage requires some study in the glass. Abundant fruit shares the stage with savory acidity here, practically insisting to be part of the dinner table.

The flagship Syrah is the 2015 Syrah Grand Ciel Vineyard and it’s all from a single vineyard on Red Mountain, was completely destemmed, and aged in 30% new French oak. Similarly colored to the Signature Syrah, it offers more black cherry, currants, scorched earth, smoke, and mineral characteristics to go with a big, rich, concentrated style on the palate. Beautifully balanced, with both tannin and acidity, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will shine over the following decade.

Pairing Suggestion

Grand Ciel Syrah pairs very well with grilled meats, vegetables, wild game and stews, and chilis. Marbled cuts of beef stand up to Syrah – we recommend pairing with Grilled New York or Ribeye Steak.
