2019 Doyenne
Red Mountain AVA
In classic fashion on release of the wine, 2019 Doyenne presents Syrah in the forefront with Cabernet Sauvignon as the anchor. Syrah displays attractive black plum and savory smoked brisket, while capsicum, anise, and black olive tapenade are the dominant Cabernet aromas. White pepper and smoky barrel influence yield to a juicy, fruit-forward palate that remains balanced by an untamed and more rustic texture. The dense structure of this wine begs for a grilled meat companion and should allow for 8+ years of cellaring.

Aromas of bramble, blackberry, rosemary, and leather. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, taught tannins. Ripe fruit is at the core of the palate, accented by fresh floral notes and hints of vanilla and almond. Well-balanced and light on its feet. Best in 2024.

Behind the Wine
2019 Doyenne
The city of Aix-en-Provence is where the first great French wine region was formed & the art of blending is steeped in history. Doyenne (meaning wise or senior) is a tribute to this ancient region & respected practice. Originally crafted by Executive Winemaker Chris Upchurch for his wedding, this blend of Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon is true to the Doyenne name and the region that inspired its creation.

Our 2019 Doyenne is sourced from some of Red Mountain’s most acclaimed vineyards, such as Ciel du Cheval and Grand Ciel.
