2020 Grand Ciel Cabernet

Undeterred by its youth, the 2020 Grand Ciel Cabernet delivers an abundance of pleasure on release. The nose shows whiffs of blackberry, roasted baking spices, star anise and cedar plank. The harmonious palate displays powerful, broad tannins and intense richness while remaining impeccably balanced and fresh. The oak is layered seamlessly in the background behind spicy green peppercorn, red currants, fresh dark espresso, and molasses. The lengthy finish is focused and has great purity of fruit with a savory edge. I love this wine now, but its true colors will show after five more years in the bottle, and it will be able to cellar for 20+ years. – N.B

Full-bodied, impressively layered and textured, the Cabernet offers profound pleasure that sings with harmony and unison of world-class wine. Gobs of dusty dark red fruit tones give way to a lively mineral tension before juicy spiced plum and blackberry reduction somersault across the almost unending finish. It’s a fantastic wine that proves Washington Cabernet deserves to be in the private collection of serious collectors worldwide.
