Medium red-ruby. Slightly inky aromas of cassis, blueberry, licorice pastille, menthol, violet and minerals. Sappy, spicy and deep; powerfully intense, concentrated and savory, with dark berry, mineral, licorice and violet flavors conveying restrained sweetness and uncanny tactility without any corners. Finishes with firm but suave tannins and outstanding rising palate-saturating length. If this doesn’t display quite the urgency of its 2016 predecessor, it’s equally classy and long and has plenty of medicinal reserve for a slow evolution in bottle.
