This wine, the third release of our single vineyard estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, has a complex and intense nose of blueberries, blackberries, black cherries, and cedar. A whiff of violets emerges after a few swirls of the glass. This opens on the palate with black currants, blueberries, cedar, and deep milk chocolate flavors. The combination of concentration, elegance and fine, silky tannins ensures that this wine will be delicious for many years to come.

The 2006 Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon (100% varietal from the DeLille owned Grand Ciel Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA) sports a captivating bouquet of wood smoke, herbs, balsamic, espresso, blackberry, and a hint of chocolate. Elegant on the palate with loads of savory fruit and spice elements, it personifies the phrase of the iron fist in the velvet glove. It will evolve for several more years and easily see its 20th birthday.

Grand Ciel Cabernet is a single vineyard, single varietal and single clone Cabernet from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate and soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe and structured Cabernet. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel.

Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented 14-16 days on skin, aged 20 months in 100% French oak (100% new) and aged in bottle 18 months prior to release.
