Deeply blue black in color, and overflowing with smoked herb, blueberry and vanilla aromas, this wine is the epitome of Malbec. Sourced entirely from Yakima Valley’s famed Red Willow Vineyard, blackberry, cherry and earthy gravel notes all emerge as the wine opens in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, with concentration and generous fruit balanced on a firm tannin structure, this wine is a hedonistic and pleasurable offering from beginning to end.
Cold soaked for 24-36 hours. Fermented on skin 12-14 days. Hald of the lot extended macerated for 6-7 weeks, before blending and aging for 20 months in 100% French oak (60% new).
Food Pairing Notes
Malbec will pair extremely well with leaner red meats, and even lighter cuts like dark meat turkey or roasted pork. The pairing secret of Malbec is that it works well with pepper, sage, creamy mushroom sauces, melted cheese, and in particular, blue cheese.
No other grape benefits more from the dramatic swing between day and night temperatures (diurnal shift) than Malbec. This holds especially true at the renowned Red Willow vineyard in the remote western corner of the Yakima Valley AVA.
