Rhone Sampler

Save $23 on our Rhone Sampler this weekend only!  Syrah lovers will especially appreciate this perfect combination which includes our 2014 Signature Syrah and 2014 Doyenne (a Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon blend).

2014 Signature Syrah:

The 2014 Signature Syrah exhibits an inky blue and black color. This is a great vintage for our Syrah, with incredibly generous aromas of raspberries, boysenberries, toasted sesame seeds, violets, dried cherries, cigar box and tamarind.  The flavors are also expansive with raspberries galore, fresh plums and smoky grilled meats, enhanced with citrus oil and blood orange notes that develop from the 2% Viognier that is co-fermented with the Syrah.  The attractive and savory tannins make this vintage even more appealing.

October 2017, Review by Stephen Tanzer for Vinous
"(from Ciel du Cheval and Boushey vineyards; vinified with 100% destemmed fruit and aged in 25% new oak): Bright medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, violet and game, plus a touch of lead pencil that probably comes from Ciel du Cheval. A plush, generous blueberry and raspberry fruit bomb, perfectly energized by harmonious acidity and high notes of flowers and blood orange. A wonderfully silky, sophisticated Syrah with terrific fruit preservation. Finishes savory and very long, with utterly seamless but firm tannins and uncanny vibrancy."

2014 Doyenne:

Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Syrah (50%)

The 2014 Doyenne, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, exhibits deep purple and violet hues.  There is great up-front hedonism in this year’s blend, which is dominated by blackberry, cassis, black cherry, lavender and sous bois (forest floor) notes. Right now the Syrah is dominating the flavors with black fruits, black pepper, bacon, tapenade, grenadine, malted chocolate and worn leather.  This vintage produced a remarkable and seamless blend of these two noble grapes.

October 2017, Review by Stephen Tanzer for Vinous
"(Nearly three-quarters of this fruit came from Red Mountain): Bright, dark medium ruby. Captivating lavender and underbrush complexity to the aroma of blackberry. A ripe, sweet bomb of raspberry and blackberry fruit, lifted by a peppery quality and complicated by a note of olive tapenade. Plush, broad, utterly seamless blend with terrific concentration and persistence."
