There is something for everyone in this set of three wines that we call our "Classics." This trio includes one bottle each of 2015 D2, 2015 Chaleur Blanc, and 2014 Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon. Taste a bit of DeLille's past with D2, one of our founding wines first made in 1992, and our Chaleur Blanc, our first of only two white wines we make, first crafted in 1995. Look to the future with one of our more recent passions, our Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon blended from four difference vineyard sources in the prestigious Red Mountain AVA. Four Flags was first made in 2010 as a small lot club wine, and has since become a classic favorite!
Inviting pure fruit aromas of cherry, cranberry and blueberries introduce this 2015 D2, all respectfully framed by appealing oak notes of cocoa and wood spice. Soft and welcoming Merlot drives the entry with red currant before giving way to the power and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit is well balanced with savory notes of toasted fennel seeds and dried rosemary, with enjoyable oak influence and firm tannins on the sustained finish.
2015 Chaleur Blanc:
Right off the bat, there’s bouquet of white pepper, lemongrass, brioche, grapefruit, caramelized pineapple and vanilla followed by sweet grass and white flowers. The mouth follows with almond butter, pineapple upside down cake, apple crisp and campfire smoke framing the dried fruit and honey. Wow, this vintage is complex and generously flavored – an outstanding Chaleur Blanc!
2014 Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon:
The 2014 Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, violets and Herbs de Provence. This wine screams of Red Mountain’s terroir with its combination of great structure and ripeness. On the palate, Four Flags is focused and savory with ripe, firm tannins. This vintage shows notes of fresh plums, currants and blueberries along with cardamom, fennel seed and a touch of flint.
